The Art of It All

What have you learned about yourself or the world as a result of living through the COVID-19 pandemic? Your challenge is to express your experience of living through this historic time through a work of art.

Dipping into our own universe

Summary

The project is a representation of the feelings triggered during social isolation. It aims to show that, despite all the difficulty situations, it is possible to take the opportunity to discover a little more and imagine living in the future with more awareness. We also wanted to represented how being isolated here on earth can be pretty similar to be isolated in space, something that the astronauts have to deal all the time.

How We Addressed This Challenge

The project shows the faces of isolation, the one that brings the feeling of being adrift and completely lost in a new and quite uncomfortable situation, as well as the possibility of learning that being alone is also in a promising place and full of news to know and reflect on how it is and how to be.

How We Developed This Project

We chose this challenge withing the aim of showing the art that exists behind all the chaos we are living in, representing through words and images that every historical period is shaped by two different faces and that there are still reasons to believe in tomorrow.

We developed the project using the analogy between being locked at home and being an astronaut traveling through space while confined. We wanted to show that being isolated can be connected to the opportunity to make discoveries, some people discovered new astronomical phenomenals while others discovered the galaxies in their own bodies and soul. Despite the simplicity of the project, it says a lot about us, with all the subjectivities and feelings. It may not be a complex project, but that is what makes it truthful.
