What have you learned about yourself or the world as a result of living through the COVID-19 pandemic? Your challenge is to express your experience of living through this historic time through a work of art.

Summary

This crisis showed us that people are two kinds. The first one death waits for, not because of Corona, because of being afraid of it. For them staying at home is like a prison, Boredom made their day only about fighting and watching the news. How to erase boredom? By joining the second Kind who benefits from the lockdown, working on their skills, and meditating the creatures that we don't often notice because of being busy. We showed the impact on other sides like environment and economy.

How We Addressed This Challenge

The challenge depends on showing the change that happened to the person and the world around him during The crisis of Corona. Therefore, we have explained in the design the psychological and the social impact of Corona and its effects on the habits and attributes of different groups of people, not one class.

We also explained how some people adapted to the lock-down by making themselves busy doing different hobbies and interests, unlike the other group who wasted their time doing nothing.

As for the world, we have shown in the design drawings which is showing what happened to the environment and the economy also during this hard time. We were able to put the information from the specified sources into the design as much as possible.

How We Developed This Project

Our project passed through several phases as the next order:

*Choosing the challenge

It was about reading all challenges and then having a meeting to discuss and negotiate to choose one of them to work on.

Why this challenge?

We wanted the challenge that we will choose to be the most beneficial to the people in this crisis, we think that the psychological side is the most important, we found that nothing is more beneficial for people than spreading awareness of the importance of using time in what is useful as practicing favorite hobbies to make them feel better during the lock-down. We found that the simplest way to educate people is through design because it leaves an impact on the mind of its viewers.

How to show the beauty of investing your time in our design?

It is a difficult question that made us have a mind-storm to get ideas which fit our purpose

What is our purpose?

The idea is about spreading awareness to make use of quarantine's time in good ways such as developing our skills, working on our physical and mental health.

Telling people that no matter how much worse things are happening in the world around us, because we still can live with it, we still can learn and thrive. Yes, we are locked physically, but our minds are free.

How we used the space agency data in our project?

In the design you can see:

_ A lot of wonderful things around us which always exist but we don't often notice them because of being busy working or studying, but now we have much time to meditate and to watch the nature, for instance, the sky, looking at the moon and the stars, like those who are watching in the design and it, was a kind of luck to watch *" super moon" during this period of quarantine and the "Vega star" near to it at 7th of may*

_ A graph shows one of the environmental impacts of Corona, it is a graph from ( NASA earth observatory, How the Corona-virus is (and Is Not)Affecting the Environment, by Kasha Patel) it shows the low percentage of carbon dioxide after the spread of Corona. This is a great positive impact that must be shown so we used this graph.

_This video (https://dlmultimedia.esa.int/download/public/videos/2020/03/013/2003_013_AR_EN.mp4) and the article(COVID-19: Nitrogen dioxide over China)from ESA inspired us to add elements to our design which symbolize that the environment is recovering. The video shows how the percentage of Nitrogen dioxide decreased in Italy during the Corona crisis.

_The percentage of people who are afraid of Corona is not tiny, and their fear is more dangerous than the virus itself, so we made it clear at the design that this would make them prisoners and leads them to die of fearing!.

People became more dangerous during the quarantine, people are hurting each other more than used! for instance, the hurting of children by their parents or families, and the hurting of the wife by her husband!. The violence is increasing every day. Therefore, we explained in the design that there are people who are not taking advantage of the benefits of the quarantine like those who are fighting in the design, wasting their time in bad habits, and this will affect them negatively during the quarantine and after it too!.

_In the design we showed that Corona is still making the people poorer, That is according to(Fraser, Economic Impact of COVID-19: Special Reports) which shows that corona is pushing countries to fall in a great dept, Some companies will go bankrupt and some will increase their production.

*Putting all of this together

Having a complete vision of the design was a very complex part. We have a lot of ideas, and a lot of data, but how to make a combination, how to mix them all in one design?.

This phase was about drawing on papers, comparing the drawings, drawing again, choosing the best of them, mixing them, drawing again, and finally, we made our full vision of the design.

What are the challenges which faced us through all of these phases?

_ choosing suitable data from all of the available wasn't an easy process, it is a craziness to use them all, and choosing from them is challenging.

_ we thought about several ideas but the time of the Hackathon wasn't enough to apply all of them or to make a perfect design.

_managing time seemed fantasy at first because some of us are used to staying up late and to sleeping during the morning, the others are used to the opposite, and it was a must to work all together most of the Hackathon time, we have hardly managed that.

_ we stayed up for long to think, work, search, and design.

_ choosing a name and a motto for the team and a name for the Project, writing the summary, and making a good presentation was all challenging.

_Suffering from repeated internet cut

What we have achieved because of the Hackathon?

Learning how to:

_work in a team

_ finish a lot of tasks during a short period

_ create ideas using data

_ cooperate for doing a task

Who did What?

All of the team members have participated in all of the phases, but everyone has played a remarkable role in specific thing For example, most of the designing made by YOUSEF especially the applying part.

Coordinating between members and leading the team was by KHALED.

NOURA was very helpful in creating ideas based on the data

Searching for the data itself is which RANA helped in a lot.

From knowing that there is an online hackathon, passing by adding the team to the website ending with Editing and reviewing the answers for the required questions was a great effort made by LAYLA.
