In the current times, where most of the content that we consume is placed on screens, I wanted to revitalize the flipbook as a magical object to share stories.
With this global flipbook project, I want to share my experience during the times of the pandemic and how it helped me to relieve stressful psychological conditions during the quarantine.
Creating and sharing flipbooks with the people I love is one of the things that I enjoy the most. However, as a UX/UI Designer, I spend most of the day looking at screens. This is why I decided to use this opportunity to briefly step out of my laptop and to create a flipbook to share it with the world.
I am deeply concerned about how global issues like COVID-19 and climate change influence the way we live. Therefore my approach was to showcase these changes in an interactive way.
The data that I use came from the Earth Observatory. I found this quite interesting because I could see and compare data related to climate aspects, such as the Atmosphere, Heat, Land, and Water. I used maps from the Vegetation Index and the Active Fires from the past 10 years because I found this relation very powerful.
The idea is that anyone interested in creating their own flipbook can access the open data and use the template that I created.
The software that I used is the following:
