Our project fully submit the main challenge that is to express our own experience during the quarantine with a work of art. With our video, the members could express with a poem and with the dance how we were feeling during this time. We also talked with a few people to hear and see how they were dealing with quarantine using art as a coping mechanism. We were faced with people saying that they were using forms of art that they never used before to express themselves through it. That’s when we got the idea of the Instagram feed because with the Covid-19 we learned that art is in everything.
We chose this challenge because it involved the human nature and we found interesting to use space information and science to work and produce an art project, it’s different from all of the others challenges. First, we debated between ourselves how was quarantine to each one and we found out that everybody got similar experiences, so, from that, we tried to think of ideas to use each skill we had in our team. But, as we searched, we got curious about how other people were dealing with the same situation, and that’s when we thought about a video to show ourselves and an instagram to show how others were dealing. But the tricky part is that some people we talked didn’t studied or were involved with art before quarantine, so we found this interesting and focused on this. We read a study by U.S. Department of Health and Human about Psychological Stress Associated with the COVID-19 Crisis to understand more about the psychological part that involves everyone. After that, we started to work on our video and on the posts for our Instagram. During the production, we talked about how space and galaxies were portrayed as a kind of art, like in the use of galaxies in the pattern of clothes and space used as a metaphor in some tattoos, as one of our members had a tattoo with that. We also researched about astronauts and art and we ran into some news from ESA that we found interesting and used to post and talk about the relevance of the art in different kinds of educational areas, like in astronomy and history. We didn’t find any major problem to develop our project, we just were kinda confused because we had so many ideas that it was hard to choose only one. Our biggest achievement was to find new people and new information from NASA, and others space agencies, that can be useful in our college major and future.
