The Art of It All

What have you learned about yourself or the world as a result of living through the COVID-19 pandemic? Your challenge is to express your experience of living through this historic time through a work of art.

Satellite

Summary

Satellite, connects our world. Connect technology and people. Based on that, the Satellite project emerged. The project aims to promote art, such as emotions and connections. We started from the premise of presenting our emotions and the world view through art, but not only that! We want the world to also be present and to promote art, with emotions and connections.Art beyond freedom of expression promotes connection. Therefore, we are promoting connections, sharing ideas, and thoughts through our website.Just as a satellite explores the most diverse knowledge in the universe, our website aims to take off towards the most diverse fields of art, to explore different types of thoughts and ideas.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Our project presents a simple execution proposal that can have a great social impact, given the large population mass sharing the same condition of social isolation. Aiming to connect people through art, both artists and people who just seek to share the abstraction of their feelings in this period in which we live, we seek to encourage the exchange of perspectives. Art is an excellent tool, although underestimated, for human connection and investment in mental health. Our biggest challenge is being to integrate afield into the website for people to upload their art in quarantine and create an interesting environment for that interaction.

How We Developed This Project

We interpret challenge five as problematizing the expression of emotions related to the human situation in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since a large part of the world population is experiencing a period without the usual “human contact”, this factor can trigger problems such as anxiety and depression due to the lack of shared feelings. Therefore, we decided to think about how to transmit emotions through technology and connect people through art. Our target audience is people in quarantine, in general. Anyone who is willing to connect with others through art.
The solution represents the opportunity to combat emotional disorders of social isolation, since art is an excellent form of stress relief, for example, and the encouragement of creativity in this period can directly impact people's health. Quantitatively, the impact of our project can be measured by feedback from the people involved, as well as by accessing the website.

We thought about presenting visual art related to the pandemic crisis and the isolation in space, mixing 3D and 2D illustrations, on a website open to public interaction. On the website, in addition to the presentation of our own visual artwork, there will be a field of interaction so that people from different places and with different perspectives through the crisis can share their art (and emotions), as well as their thoughts regarding the question: “ how do you want to see the future? ” in a comment field, to encourage positivity. This way the project will have our and the public perspective in relation to the present, and, finally, their future perspective - connecting, like a satellite, people and their emotions and stimulating artistic production and reflection to develop their mental health.
