Food for Thought

Your challenge is to consider the journey of food to your plate, determine how disruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic are affecting the food supply locally and globally, and propose solutions to address these issues.

Ceres

Summary

We developed an app that provides users with a vast variety of information regarding the Intrinsecabilities of our planet and allows them to share or exchange food and services with other users. These informations will assist food producers of every scale or just provide users with enough data so they can plant something in their home.

How We Addressed This Challenge

The application will encourage people to plant food in their homes, opening up possibilities for exchanging with their neighbors. In this way, it can positively influence the way a society behaves by increasing the availability and variability of food in a given region, which makes people eat better and consequently reduces the crowding in supermarkets.

How We Developed This Project

Assumptions about a shortage crisis being disseminated in several places led the team members to reflect on a possible solution. The approach taken was to try to inhibit the fear of the crisis with a pleasant activity. That's when we decided to create an app to teach people how to plant in their homes, share and even sell their spare crop.
The main usability of the data provided by space agencies is that of climate analysis by satellites. The idea was to develop a smartphone application using IONIC with TypeScript. The biggest achievement was to develop the app using web technology, which allowed a rapid evolution. The biggest problem was not having enough time to develop a more robust application using a database.
