We believe that our solution is within the chosen challenge. Because we streamline the food supply chain, by acting as an intermediate and providing a market, from with small producer can sell their products to hungry people. We also use nasa satellite data, to boost the farmer efficiency, by using the SMAP satellite constellation, for providing data on the evapotranspiration of crops, thus helping save water on the irrigation of the farmers property.
During our research we stumbled on the WSF HungerMap, and discovered that 251.7 millions of people in 19 countries, where having challenges accessing markets. But the food production didn’t stop because of this, meaning that a lot of food would spoil without ever being bought from a producer, leading to a mass waste and a lot of hungry people. When we went to fact check this, we found accounts from small producers who where suffering from this issue, and discovered that they were being the most hurt by this.
In order to solve this we needed a way to bridge the gap between the small producer and the final consumer, without putting workers at risk and ensuring trust and quality. For that we decided to develop Cibus a digital intermediate that would provide a safe logistic backbone, to connect producers to consumers. In order to ensure food quality, all transactions on the supply chain, will be recorded on a blockchain.
Cibus would still provide nutrition recommendation for its users, to maximize the calories consumed on this trying times. And would also help boost farmer efficiency, by using the SMAP satellite constellation, for providing data on the evapotranspiration of crops, thus helping save water on the irrigation of the farmers property.
