Human Factors

The emergence and spread of infectious diseases, like COVID-19, are on the rise. Can you identify patterns between population density and COVID-19 cases and identify factors that could help predict hotspots of disease spread?

C.E.M. - bodies apart, minds connected

Summary

Our project has the purpose of helping the government, companies, and even people make important decisions mostly during difficult times. For instance, during this pandemic, more specifically during the quarantine, the governments must make difficult decisions about rather they should let people travel and get in contact with other people or not. The information they need is available on our website, where they can analyze and compare NO2 data, population density, deaths, and contamination.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Using the relation between NO2 data and population density we present with a website the locations that have high indices of contagion and help government, companies, and people make important decisions about their well-being.

How We Developed This Project

To develop our project, first, we analyzed very carefully the challenge that we chose to solve, identifying all the problems, and searching in the Nasa, ESA, Jaxa and other websites to gather as much information as we could that would be useful for our project. Then, we did a brainstorm and a mind map to come up with solutions; the one that came out was our website: C.E.M. - bodies apart, minds together. We decided to use the population density, NO2 data, deaths, and cases of the COVID-19 in maps, graphics, and numbers, an easier way for people to understand. Another thing we thought about a lot was how we were going to create the site, the decision was to use Wix. The problems we had were that in the beginning, it was a bit difficult to find the data we wanted, however, now we engaged in the solution and everything went fine.
