Human Factors

The emergence and spread of infectious diseases, like COVID-19, are on the rise. Can you identify patterns between population density and COVID-19 cases and identify factors that could help predict hotspots of disease spread?

COVID-19 Tracker and data analyzer app

Summary

COVID-19 is a pandemic virus that affects most countries in the world and 2%-3% of its patients die, but scientists want time to find a solution for the virus. our mission at this time is knowing high risks areas and factors that make them exposed more to the virus and help them. making an Algorithm that detects Hotspots of the virus and tracking the virus by some questions. the detection done by grouping countries, then using SIR model to see the trends of the countries that limiting diffusion.

How We Addressed This Challenge

                           "Humans affect Humans"

COVID-19 comes from humans’ activities and spread by them, too. patients are increasing by time, and the virus will be more dangerous by the time because of modification in its genes that make it more fatal. there are a lot of countries that make strategies to limit its spreading, but it's still spreading increasing because of humans’ activities. these activities need assembling with high number and this is can increase the number of patients. this challenge is finding the link between these human activities and the COVID-19 spreading. our idea will find the Hotspot areas by seeing the previous human activities that lead to increasing the COVID-19 patients' number.

determining the hotspot areas moves in Two steps:
1- grouping countries into Three groups:

  • their COVID-19 spreading graph is decreasing with time.
  • their COVID-19 spreading graph does not have a constant rate of change with time.
  • COVID-19 starts to stop spreading.

2- Using a model called SIR Modelthat see the trending methods in countries in group 3 (COVID-19 starts to stop spreading). the countries we used in the model are Italia, America, Japan, China, New Zealand.

- The countries will be Hotspots are countries with activities that increase the spreading of the virus from the data and the model above.

- we also use correlation Matrix that helps in seeing the activities that increase the spreading in the countries and link it with other countries to see if it will be a Hotspot of not.

By this Algorisms the app will predict:

1- Hotspot regions.

2- Reasons or human activities for making them hotspots.

3- Tracking the virus.

The data used is Best Use Data.

How We Developed This Project

In our country, Egypt, the graph of COVID-19 spreading is increasing and the number of patients increases every day, and this is because of the citizens' carelessness. the meet every day and make a lot of activities that need gathering without knowing that these activities could affect them and their families. This encourages us to enter Human Factors challenge and help our country and other countries with the same problem.

  1. we asked ourselves: "what makes our graph increase every day"
  2. then, we put some activities that could be the reason for COVID-19 spreading.
  3. we compare these activities in our country and other countries to be sure that these activities for sure make the virus spread more.
  4. we use data from NASA (Best Use Of Data).

the app is done by:

  • PYTHON.
  • JAVA.
  • Photoshop (For the UI or User Interface).

The other side of our solution is tracking the virus with some questions like Wha is your body temperature,etc... to tell you by some variable you have the Virus or not. we try to make these questions in an embedded system device by Arduino and some sensors, but the problem is finding these sensors in our country, so we make with software questions.
