Prevention is always better than cure. If the COVID19 virus outbreak was closely monitored providing people real time feedback in the initial stages of the outbreak it would have not spread to the other countries however lack of prevention and precautions have caused the outbreak to turn into a pandemic causing the deaths of millions of people all over the world. If people are properly aware of their surroundings and provided information like what all microbial hotspots surround them, what kind of diseases could they get from them, what are the prevention measure to avoid contamination, what is the death rate of such a disease, what kind of medical and financial aid will be required to survive such a disease, spreading of diseases would drastically change.
During the spreading of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, we noticed that after a considerable amount of time people took the prevention and precautions seriously and that was after they realised how fatal the virus could be. if people are aware of all disease like they were for SARS-CoV-2 virus, they would definitely avoid getting contaminated.
Our main idea is to aware people of the existence of such hotspots and prevent another future pandemic to take place
Increasing industrialisation and growth of the urban areas have resulted in poor environmental conditions and the have produced resource scarcity. Problems like solid waste collection, standing swamps, unnoticed garbage dumps, crowded markets with low sanitary conditions need to paid much more attention. Solid wastes from open air dumps produce tragic influences on the ecosystem, however problems with solid wastes is that these dumps are easily shifted and located randomly.Hence remote sensing is a way to provide real time detection of dumps and standing swamps, providing its real time location on a map to the users of the app.
The use of remote sensing helps counter the problems that occur due the traditional methods such as labour and money, time management.Satellites like the LANDSAT-TM helps in providing location of such solid dumps, swamps but that is not possible if the collection of the waste is small due to limitations in its spatial resolutions. However satelites like the BJ-1 microsatellite can mark the locations of solid wastes however necessary modifications are also required to monitor area as big as several countries. Providing some modifications and fitting a prototype of sensors such as multi-spectral sensors and Pan sensors aboard the space stations, it would make it possible for us to revisit the location about 16 times.
Aerial photographs would be required to complete the images proposed by the satellites and would help in correction. Digital Elevation Models, boundary land use maps must be provided so marking could be mad easier. Hue Intensity Saturation and Brovey Methods of image fusion will take place. Modifications such as fitting sensors such as the multispectral sensors and Pan sensors would be made in the prototype that would be attached to the Space Stations such as the ISS so that high frequency remote sensing could be optimized.
However EnvIO has something else also planned for its users apart from marking of hotspots on a map.
EnvIO provides a user a map of their surroundings marked with all the microbial hotspots it had detected previously from its remote sensing satellite help. This makes a user aware of all potential contamination zones. However many times due to limitations in the satellite spectral sensing many hotspots remain unnoticed. This could totally sabotage the entire project if it is not taken care off. As a user of the EnvIO app, the user would be told:
it was noticed during the early stages of the pandemic people had not taken the precautions seriously and preventional measures were not established by the governments at urgency that lead to contamination and unfortunate deaths of thousands. if the effects of the virus were told early the pandemic could have been avoided and that problem is countered by EnvIO by providing a real time map of all microbial hotspots around a person's house, workplace, favourite shopping spot and many more such places. It was also noticed that during the pandemic a lot of false news and information about the virus and preventional measures were being circulated hence all precaution and preventions proposed to the user of the EnvIO app will be checked by the standard WHO measures.
EnvIO will provide its users a platform to alarm the municipal authorities of any marsh gas producing swamps, garbage dumps that are left unnoticed, areas with low hygiene levels or any area that poses a harm to the ecological life. All they have to do is fill an IRA, Instant Request Application which enables the user to alarm the municipal authorities of an undetected microbial hotspot that could cause harm to the ecological life on this planet.
The moment an user applies for an IRA, the mobile handset of the user automatically opens the camera and asks the user to click a picture of the area that requires attention. Due to instant opening of the camera, it doesn't allow the user to provide pre-hand image presentation.It would track the location of the user and pin the location on a 'Test' map, a map that has marked the user request based location and send this test map the municipal authorities.
As the population of a country increases, rapid industrialization, resource scarcity, lack of land pay there way into a countries land. The bigger the population the bigger problem it is to monitor the contamination levels of the area. such problems are taken care off by a EnvIO as more users of the EnvIO app will lead to more people to fill out IRA's and alarm the authorities.
But before the images would be checked by machine learning softwares that can recognize the garbage sites. after this human visual conformation would be made by the app handlers, people could be appointed for this as well.
After being aware of health and ecological risks who wouldn't take an action that is as easy as taking a picture?
Suppose you are visiting your aunt and on the way to her house you spot this huge garbage mess something like this , all you need is to open your EnvIO app, click on IRA, take a picture, turn location and your request would have been sent directly to the municipal authority. You would get real time monitoring of the site, about 16 times a day. You would take the action that is required to change the world for it is said in EnvIO,''A picture a day, keeps ecological crisis away!''
EnvIO is still in its developer phase however the idea needs attention, the readers attention. we need precaution and prevention to be instilled in us. A year ago no one would have dreamed about this pandemic but here we are surviving and giving our best shot to get life back to normal. We need ways that can help preventing potential pandemics to take place and that is what we aim to do.
