Human Factors

The emergence and spread of infectious diseases, like COVID-19, are on the rise. Can you identify patterns between population density and COVID-19 cases and identify factors that could help predict hotspots of disease spread?

FrontCOVID-19 – Frontline health workers, Our concern is your health

Summary

Our initiative FrontCOVID-19 is a platform that aims to provide support and visibility to health and safety in the work environment of frontline health workers in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic to reduce exposure to infection, illness and death. In addition to supports your occupational health by mapping risks and vulnerabilities, helping to solve the problem, since it guarantees the right of response by the managers of these work environments.

How We Addressed This Challenge

We chose the challenge #humanfactors for the relevance that professionals working in the frontline have in the response in this moment of health crisis, becoming victims and they also can transmit the virus out of environmental work. Their work activities and the risks/vulnerabilities associated with it, make this group more exposed and susceptible. This initiative responds to the challenge posed by acting directly on the problem, but it is part of solving of this challenging problem that is multifactorial and may also depend on economic and political aspects.

How We Developed This Project

The worldwide spreading of the new coronavirus made us worried about the large number of affected frontline health workers during response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of them are close friends or family. Our approach was to map risks and vulnerabilities in the work environment of frontline health workers. Data for mapping and integration with socioeconomic and health data to broaden the view of the problem. The platform was built with adobe-illustrator, css, html5, javascript, node.js, photoshop, react, react-native, sqlite.
