The emergence and spread of infectious diseases, like COVID-19, are on the rise. Can you identify patterns between population density and COVID-19 cases and identify factors that could help predict hotspots of disease spread?

Planet Health Platform

Summary

Our project will use ANAC’s data for flight information to provide data of likely new poles of contamination so that it can be used by the state to quickly take actions before the disease arrives the state territory. It’ll work with a single input: the origin of the disease. We’ll also use and NASA’s data about COVID-19 to validate that we’d be able to detect the new poles using our platform.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Predicting the human actions (the path they travel) is a good way to discover where there’ll likely be the new poles of contamination.

How We Developed This Project

What inspired our team to choose this challenge was the quick way that COVID-19 spread across the planet. Based on that, we thought of an efficient platform to predict a future spread of the virus before WHO even declared a pandemic state. To develop this platform, we used the programming language pyhton to read data from international flights.
