We address this challenge by developing an application that can collect the users' health conditions. When there are noticeable symptoms or confirmation of the virus accumulating in a particular area, the application will send an alert and predicts the hotspots of the disease spread perimeter.
With the help of Nasa's satellite communications and Earth observations, we will be able to determine the potential of hotspots with Nasa's Earth-based infrastructure. Besides that, the users will be able to determine the threat levels of the virus in that area which will be differentiated by colors (Green, Yellow, and Red).
Once the users are entering those zones, the application will send an alert warning them to divert their directions to another safer route. Moreover, the application will also categorize the users by age so it can determine the probability of the users' chance of infecting the virus. With this application, self-quarantined will be much simpler and with future upgrades, it has the potential to be integrated with other features to develop more ease to use application.
We were inspired to choose this particular challenge because we want to prevent people from spreading the virus more and more which will cause other people to lose their loved ones. With this project, we are determined to end this virus from spreading once and for all and wait until the day where the vaccine is created.
By integrating the space-based assets such as satellite communications and Earth observations as well as with the Earth-based infrastructure. This can help our algorithm to identify the potential virus hotspots and patterns.
We used Kotlin to develop the application for Android devices but will add Xcode for iOS devices in the future. The problems we had in this project are mainly time-management as all of us are university students.
Moreover, during this period of pandemic situations, we were all required to do this online which caused some problems as all of us are in different states. Also, this event is held during our midterm period of the semester so we had midterms that clashed with this event. But overall, we understand most of the people are going through the same situation and we are proud to be able to join this Hackathon.
