Human Factors

The emergence and spread of infectious diseases, like COVID-19, are on the rise. Can you identify patterns between population density and COVID-19 cases and identify factors that could help predict hotspots of disease spread?

Predicting Covid-19 Waves & Hotspots

Summary

We’ve made predictions regarding second waves and its hotspots with the help of various earth observation data. We’ve tracked the aviation records of different airports in the USA and have concluded its effects on the pandemic. We’ve addressed the risks that may be seen in near future due to precipitation and flood on pandemic spread.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Our project addresses the challenges of ‘Human Factors’ by analyzing aviation patterns, rainfall and water vapor statistics, and population density. And our main focus throughout the project was to prevent the spread of the virus, by predicting hotspots and areas that maybe struck heavily using the data we have collected and rigorously analyzed.

How We Developed This Project

Our team has been concerned for past weeks from different locations of Nepal using various group meeting applications on how the pandemic is growing worldwide despite the fact that people themselves are avoiding people. Being our first Hackathon , we were not sure that approaching solutions would not be much difficult after knowing reasons. We then made a prototype of our thoughts using Viber Messenger and used a web building site ‘porkbun’ to visualize the discussions.
