The project addresses the challenge by providing the platform to the communities and Local Government Units to monitor and trace the person with suspected case of COVID-19. The platform will provide real-time data to the users about the current situation of their local areas through the use of traceit mobile app. Users from various communities will receive updates and announcements coming from their Local Government with the use of the app, allowing users to access transparent data on the current situation of their locality. With the use of both mobile and web app technologies of traceit, it can provide vast amounts of data coming from various users on different areas, giving the local government an overview of how they can mitigate the spread of COVID-19 from their localities. Data is a powerful tool that we can use to fight against the virus. The data that the traceit will provide will help the local government unit assess the situation of their localities, determined who are the exposed individuals on the certain areas, how many people can be exposed in the virus and the factors of it such as social activities, as well as creating new policies based on the data which can help them and their community adjust to the new normal way of living while there is no vaccine discovered yet. It helps the government to lessen the spread of the pandemic disease and decide for mass testing.
As the pandemic disease drastically increases everyday, the team inspired to came up with a solution to stop the spreading of COVID-19. With the advancement of technologies and leveraging data to provide possible solutions, the team develop traceit as a powerful platform that can be used by the government and many people in the community. Having a background in Data Science, web, and mobile application technologies, the team utilizes the knowledge and skills to help fight against the spread of viruses globally. The traceit application developed using the Agile Method of Software Development Life Cycle. It uses React JS which is a powerful library built by Facebook for web application development while React-Native for mobile application. The team uses Global Positioning System (GPS) to track the location of individuals who uses the mobile application in different areas which can give a vast amount of location data to trace and mitigate the spread of the virus. The team also used leaflet maps to plot the coordinates of each user on various areas to see how many people can be exposed to the virus each day. The team also planning to use Keppler.gl to provide other insights on the data using Data Visualization and Data Mapping. Currently, the platform is already in 40% progress and the team will continue to developing it and deploy to help communities and the world to fight against the spread of the virus.
