Summary

Our inspiration for our project came with the sad news that Latin America is currently the epicenter of COVID-19. Crisis of this magnitude on emerging economies can bring consequences to years to come. Our idea was how we could analyse a vast range of socioeconomic data from this countries alongside covid-19 data to gain a better perspective on which countries could be prioritize for humanitarian aid. Our propose is to analyse all sorts of socioeconomics data of 10 latin america countries together with their COVID-19 data to evaluate which country is the most in need.

How We Addressed This Challenge

It provides a centralized view on a vaste range of socioeconomics data in a easy to use platform

How We Developed This Project

We look for a variety of sources of social, economic, health indicators and Covid-19 statistics. We look for reliable sources like the World Health Organization, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, United Nations and, of course, NASA. From the study of the correlations between the data, we developed a methodology for a new index. This humanitarian aid index seeks to support political and social decisions by international organizations to direct resources to face the pandemic caused by the new coranavirus. Using statistical techniques and machine learning, we were able to develop this new indicator. Individual and comparative visualizations of the data through graphs help in an easy understanding.
