In general, the data published by the Japanese government is highly accurate. in the meantime Because it takes a huge amount of time to compile the data, it is not suitable for making economic forecasts and analyses that reflect sudden social events, etc., when you want to respond quickly using the latest data. In this project, we first analyze the relationship between the data published by the government and the night light in Japan. Next, the purpose of this is the analysis and estimation about the stagnation of economic activity under the COVID-19 pandemic using Night Light. Finally, we call for the right government support on the basis of these evidences.
The method is to analyze the correlation between the night light intensity and various economic indicators in Japan by using the satellite data by NASA VIIRS.
The tools used were ArcGIS, QGIS, Tableau, and coding languages are R and python and framework is Github Pages for the WebFrame works as the jekyll.
In the case of Japan, the relationship between the basic social infrastructures and those that have been developed under policy to eliminate disparities to some extent in each region was confirmed to be symbolic.
The results of these various analyses suggest that night light can be used as a proxy variable for various indicators of economic and social activity. Therefore, it can be said that the economic damage caused by the corona can be calculated from the night light.
