An Integrated Assessment

Your challenge is to integrate various Earth Observation-derived features with available socio-economic data in order to discover or enhance our understanding of COVID-19 impacts.

CA$H UP / FAKE DOWN

Summary

Hello we are the Levante Lab team and developed the CA$H UP / FAKE DOWN, one mobile APP that provides a vast set of data and information with selected sources about the pandemic. With the APP we will impact the current war against fake news and help businesses to sell their products and services. USERS can be access discount coupons when share trust information on their social networks and BUSINESS gain an excellent sales channel by linking their products and services to trust information about the pandemic. Thus, they become partners in the fight against misinformation and gain another tool to overcome the current economic crisis.

How We Addressed This Challenge

The proposal to work with official and scientific data on the pandemic and combat misinformation took shape through the proposal of an application that organizes data on the pandemic in order to systematize, in addition to data on confirmed deaths and cases, socioeconomic data and environmental issues. This idea gained a guise aimed at helping traders, who were very impacted by the closing of establishments during the pandemic. How it works? Very simple ... The platform systematizes various data about the pandemic (using the bases made available as a source), merchants register on the platform and link data to promotions and discounts on products sold and users enter the platform in search of getting discounts, but to earn them you need to share the available data. The cycle closes with everyone happy, merchants selling more, users with their discount vouchers and shared content combating misinformation… Plim!

How We Developed This Project

We were inspired by the fight against misinformation and fake news, in addition to the economic crisis that affects everyone, especially in Brazil. Our focus is combat misinformation and the current crisis in the products and services sales sector. CA$H UP / FAKE DOWN is a mobile APP that provides a vast set of data and information with selected data and sources about the current pandemic. Initially, we used data from NASA, UN, HDX and ECDC as a source for the production of graphics and information. From the app, users can access discount coupons on purchases as they share the information available on their social networks. With CA$H UP / FAKE DOWN, businesses gain an excellent sales channel by linking their products and services to quality information about the pandemic. Thus, they become partners in the fight against misinformation and gain another tool to overcome the current economic crisis. Our goal is to be a partner of the "Sleeping Giants" movement and local companies, putting us as a possibility for advertising revenue from sites that today spread fake news. To develop our proposal we use data analysis tools (MySQL + Metabase) and tools for developing web applications and systems (PHP, Laravel and Vue - JS). In addition to interface protoripation tools (Figma). We had some problems with the funding from sources. We also had problems with ORACLE tools made available, but we managed to cope with what we already knew.In the end the problems left the team more united in search of solutions.
