An Integrated Assessment

Your challenge is to integrate various Earth Observation-derived features with available socio-economic data in order to discover or enhance our understanding of COVID-19 impacts.

Integrated data for informed decision making on COVID-19

Summary

Overlaying different socio-economic data over the layers of COVID-19 spread to derive correlations. Specifically monitoring how COVID-19 has had impact on air quality, water quality, security situations, among others

How I Addressed This Challenge

This is an exercise to combine different data layers and provide projections of socio-economic impact to allow government and private entities plan accordingly. Ideally, we have geo-location data and earth observation raster data particularly on air quality (aerosols from NASA, Copernicus) which first measures change detection of air quality between the period prior to COVID-19 and post-COVID-19. Then the urban settlement data and other socio-economic data such as humanitarian, security crisis, consumer behaviors, are used to model the expected future. The deliverable is a dynamic dashboard that hosts the analytics to allow decision makers, consumers and businesses to make informed choices and decisions.

How I Developed This Project

Inspiration is drawn from the vast information available today in different platforms, and the idea is to aggregate this information and produce added-value services for decision making.Mainly we make use of open source software such as QGIS, SAGA GIS, Google Analytics, etc.
