The Isolation Solution

Social distancing policies enacted the world over during the COVID-19 pandemic have left many people socially isolated. Your challenge is to develop innovative solutions to combat social isolation.

New vision

Summary

To all people who are bored from staying at home, there is a solution for you. Instead of ordinary video calls on internet, our solution is based on virtual reality. With this app, users can visit each other virtually through VR Google Cardboard and design their virtual homes. It also provides the ability for an imaginary going outside as it gives many maps ,containing famous land marks, to select one and start exploring by virtual reality.

How We Addressed This Challenge

The challenge that we're facing is the impacts of COVID-19-pandemic which are the quarantine issues, psychological problems due to lack of interaction between people and each others.

Our goal is to provide an ongoing resource to reduce the social distancing enacted around the globe during the COVID-19, so we design a VR application to increase the sense of social connection among members of our society without the outbreak of coronavirus .

Every user has the ability to design his own 3d virtual home so people can visit each other at homes and that is very important in these days to support everybody in the quarantine by seeing his loved ones.

Every user also has the ability to choose the location ,he wants , from the map to go outside by the virtual reality and get some happeniess , as no one can go anywhere .

How We Developed This Project

Covid 19 had really many negative impacts on many aspects but in our opinion, what it caused in our socialization is a mess. People nowadays can't visit and meet each other like they were doing before because of social distancing policies. Also they can't go to the places which they were usually attending due to curfew. That's why we chose this challenge as almost everyone is facing the problems of social distancing. So Our approach to cope with social distancing is to bring people more to each other and that will be done through virtual reality. Our idea is to make a VR application that will work on mobile phones which can make people visit and talk to each other in a virtual reality world where everyone will be having a house that anyone of his close friends can visit it. Additionally, there will be some available maps of each one's country and this map is a popular place which the users can walk through and explore by using VR glasses. Due to space agency data we found that it will be a big deal to contain the pandemic situation because the astronauts in the ISS are suffering from less of interactions and less of resources . Due to lack of time, unfortunate we couldn't make a demo VR application as it requires a lot of time more than the days of the competition which has to be created by a program called unitiy 3d. So as a solution, we have designed a a 3d model of the parts of the VR app. To achieve this, we used skecthup 3d program for designing. We had achieved to design a small map which is similar to the downtown of Cairo, Egypt. Also we have designed a house to simulate the visiting process similar to what it will look like in the application. Also this idea doesn't cost much as this application works on VR google card board which doesn't cost much and a mobile with a gyroscope.
