Now, we are facing a pandemic which is COVID-19 and people should stay at home to prevent the spread of the virus but that lead to a social distancing between people and this is normal for people who are trained to live and work in isolation like NASA astronauts, cryospheric researchers, and some scientists and researchers but for most of the people they find difficulties in adapting with the reduction in the social contact with others and this is very dangerous as it can lead to depression, increasing the risk of self-harm and it is associated with a higher risk of death in older people and these are enough reasons for finding a solution to counter the social isolation that COVID-19 committed on us. Our solution is a website that contains many options to connect to people in the features tab which are:
1. chat rooms: that let people communicate with each other according to their interests so they exchange their experience and information about the topic they’re interested in.
2. motivate me: it contains motivating stories in addition to that anyone can write his own motivating or adventure story and there is a section that is special for astronauts.
3. let people help you: to share any problem or question that faces you so the people will help you to overcome your problems and you can help other people overcome their problems
4. let’s compete: this is for competing with anyone on scientific topics according to the age and the winner gains points.
There is a store tab that you can buy anything you want by the points you gain from competing.
There are also reasons for the boredom tab that contains explanations for boredom and what happens to your body during it.
There is an online learning tab to learn many new skills.
By all these facilities on the website, people will be connected so, they won’t feel that they are socially isolated and also astronauts can use it during their journies as at the International Space Station (ISS), astronauts make use of radio waves to access the internet since the atmosphere doesn’t interfere with them.
The main reason that convinced us to choose the isolation solution challenge is that we’re all facing this problem as we want to meet our friends and family but we can’t because of the quarantine and we’re afraid to go out because of the COVID-19 virus. We put this solution for that challenge because we aim to reduce the social isolation among a lot of people during quarantine, astronauts during their long missions and it even can be used when bored after quarantine. The space agency data was very important as it provided us with the impact of the social isolation on astronauts and it gave us some important strategies that astronauts use to overcome it so it can be used to help people during the quarantine. The solution was a website so software that is called Neustar was used to develop the prototype (website). Our team faced some problems and from them is that we don’t know how to create the campaigns for our solution and the stores that should be accessed to. The achievement that we have is that we managed our time to get the solution and make the website that can help people from different aspects.
