Highsolation is an integrated system of simulation game environment and mobile app where people in quarantine will learn about astronauts activity to cope with physical and psychological challenges while being in long term isolation . Nasa and other space agencies designed different activities to identify and deal with ‘behavioral Issues Associated with isolation and Confinement’. We have tried to collect these paradigms and make a simpler solution for people living in isolation in this quarantine life due to covid 19 pandemic. We are trying to develop a system where user will know how astronauts and scientist live months in isolated places to do scientific researches for well being of the people of the world . During these long isolation periods, they have challenges both physically and mentally. We tried to know how they deal with these problems and how they stay fit mentally and physically doing specific tasks. Our approach is to apply those paradigms in mass people’s life during corona pandemic quarantine time.
We have collected data from Nasa and ESA sources and designed gameplay role with what astronauts do in International Space Station to deal with conditions like Depression, Mood change, Stress,Decline in Cognitive response, impersonal interactions etc.
Our system has two primary parts :
The game Environment:
ISS Astronaut Role play :
User will play role of an astronaut who is in long isolation in International Space Station. User will play different game play activities done by the Astronauts in ISS such as Psychomotor Vigilance Self Test, Actigraphy activities monitored in Actiwatch, keeping self journal etc.
ToDo List :
Here user will maintain a healthy day activity of being in isolation . User will have to do some given tasks to do everyday which are designed by space agencies for their astronauts to keep fit psychologically in long space flight and isolation .User will add some hobbies and leisure activities he/she likes as astronauts do in ISS.
Isolation FAQ :
User will know different facts and information collected from NASA and other space agencies . USer will know why the activities astronauts do for psychological fitness are important and how they work
Q/A assessment module :
In this module user in quarantine will answer some question designed for astronaut’s cognitive state check to identify his/her mental state after staying in isolation .
The Mobile App :
The mobile app will be used as virtual actiwatch and journal for the real life activities of the user. User will be able use the paradigms he played as astronaut in game environment to fight with isolation now, in his/her real life isolation challenges.
Mobile app will have three modules :
Actiwatch module : To track motion, idle state, sleeping time, waking up time, time spent in bed after waking up etc
Self Test module : there will be a simpler self test module like Nasa Psychomotor Vigilance Self Test on the International Space Station.
Journal : User will be able to maintain a self journal like astronauts do in ISS using this module .
We have designed the role play section with activities done by astronauts such as :
Things Astronauts do to Track and Cope with psychological and physical challenges in long isolation :
# Track Movement ,sleep and other activities with actigraphy monitored in actiwatch
#Do Psychomotor Vigilance Self Test 2 times a day in every 4th days while being in spaceflight .
#Maintain self Journals (While on orbit, crewmembers make journal entries at least 3 times per week in a personal journal.)
Things Astronauts Do for leisure and avoid boredom:
#Cultivate a New Hobby
#See Tv Serial, Movie ,Documentary
#Read Books
#Talk To friends and dear one via video chat
#Self Improvement by eliminating a bad habit
#Hosting their own webpage
#Playing Musical Instrument
#Team centric thinking, nothing personal to avoid conflict between members
#Blogging /Vlog
#Gym/workout
#Self journal
#Meditation/prayer
#Writing book / biography
We have tried to follow the International Space Station Astronauts paradigms to deal with isolation related challenges and provide a simplified solution for people in quarantine who can use these paradigms to fight against isolation and covid 19 pandemic.
As the world is fighting against the Covid 19 pandemic for long few months, and, social distancing and isolation had to become a way to cope with it, people are living in self isolation and quarantines to save the world from Covid 19 spreading. We were thinking astronauts and scientist are going through this isolation for years in remote places to do research, experiment for betterment of the world. We thought to follow astronauts staying in ISS, whop deal with isolation for months . we tried to collect data of their activities to keep mentally and physically fit in a 6 bed room sized International space station . We have read NASA and other space agency data to find out simpler solutions for common people on earth to deal with isolation related issues. Later we planned to make a simulation gameplay for people of the world to show how astronauts stay isolated for the sake of the world and deal with physical and cognitive challenges. Our system of gameplay and mobile app is designed to let user follow the paradigms NASA and other space agencies designed for astronauts to deal with isolation .
