The Isolation Solution

Social distancing policies enacted the world over during the COVID-19 pandemic have left many people socially isolated. Your challenge is to develop innovative solutions to combat social isolation.

Covid 19!

Summary

Covid 19! is a flutter-based project. The android application acts as a portal for the public to keep track of COVID-19, alongside collecting data for further analysis. The app can track daily coronavirus cases across the world and also prognosticate the number of corona cases in any country at the end of the day. The project is still underway in developing a mask that can alert the user when another person comes in close contact with the user and be able to detect people not wearing masks.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Researchers say that SARS-CoV-2’s rapid spread is likely due to the movements of people with no or very mild symptoms — namely, those who are unaware that they even have the virus. That is why social distancing is such an important containment measure. The prediction feature also helps people to restrict their movements to locations where the number of coronavirus cases is likely to surge. When the project is complete, the application will be able to detect people not wearing masks and alert the user when another person comes in close proximity hence aiding to enforce social distancing.

How We Developed This Project

We have always worked on the uses of technology for humanitarian purposes. That was the motto behind this whole project. The dataset we used is being maintained by JHU and funded by companies including NASA. Covid 19! is a flutter based application that can run on both android and ios devices.  Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) is used to analyse the trend in the number of daily corona virus cases across a country prior to being verified by our team and is implemented in Python. Our project was also featured in Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham's news site.
