The Isolation Solution

Social distancing policies enacted the world over during the COVID-19 pandemic have left many people socially isolated. Your challenge is to develop innovative solutions to combat social isolation.

Previd

Summary

A web platform that proposes new human connections in times of isolation through challenges to be solved in a group. This happens in a gamified way: fulfilling the challenge, the user accumulates virtual coins that can be exchanged for prizes from partner companies. This solution, in addition to bringing human interaction in a different way, creates new connections, causes an exchange of learning and innovative ideas, which can even be adopted by companies.

How We Addressed This Challenge

The chosen challenge is to create an effective and innovative measure to combat social isolation and propose interactions in a safe way. For this, we will create a platform that brings people together and, through group interactions, creates bonds that alleviate the lonely phase we are in.

How We Developed This Project

Inspiration:

The main inspiration was the hackathon itself, we realized how well this event did us and provided us with social interactions (something we were lacking), and even in a short space of time it impacted us significantly. And then the idea arose to transmit this feeling and experience to other people in this very terrible moment in our history. :):

Approach:

Our team addressed the issue of solving social isolation in such a way that the inability to have social interactions becomes the combat target of our product. Thus, we arrived at a solution that creates new bonds and eases the population's anxiety.

Dice:

Our team used NASA data to validate the pain that we propose to solve, in order to identify real numbers that show the impact of our problem.

Technologies and tools:

The technologies used by the team were React for the front-end and Java for the back-end. Some tools used were Adobe XD, Canva, Trello, MindMeister, Git.

Problems and achievements:

We had problems validating the idea because it took us a while to notice that people didn't really need the first solution we created. Therefore, it was necessary to pivot and reformulate: thus, we left data prediction for the community platform.
