Light the Path

The COVID-19 pandemic initiated changes in human population movements and activities around the world. Your challenge is to use Earth observations to explore how human activity and regional land-based human movement patterns may have shifted in response to COVID-19.

Cloud IO

Summary

Currently, there are professionals from different segments (academic, governmental, among others) who do not have a system that allows them to acquire information quickly about the impact of luminosity indexes. We at Cloud IO have developed a system that makes it practical and quick to analyze and capture data for academic studies, understanding environmental impacts and we have chosen to use the data provided by NASA satellites. And as a differential we try to gather information in a clear and concise way in the same place, seeking to facilitate the search and understanding of all data.

How We Addressed This Challenge

It will help many and probably if it is used intelligently it will solve many "future" problems, after all it is very innovative, we have an idea that covers the fact that we can "predict" certain things like, roads that are undergoing traffic in a more "real-time" way ”, From the lights we could detect a traffic jam very easily on a sawn road for example where an application like moovit, waze among others would not pass this information on to you unless someone who is already there knows this to pass the information on to the application, not to mention the prevention of the environment that in a “smartly used” way again will be able to show us how the environment is affected by the brightness on roads or even close to cities, and yes it is possible to guarantee that it works we have images that prove that roads can be analyzed from the lighting generated by cars at night.

How We Developed This Project

We are Cloud IO,
Cloud IO is a web platform to assist researchers and government institutions, through the analysis of night images of the Earth obtained by the NASA satellite, bringing light pollution metrics to guide environmental, demographic and economic impacts.
