Light the Path

The COVID-19 pandemic initiated changes in human population movements and activities around the world. Your challenge is to use Earth observations to explore how human activity and regional land-based human movement patterns may have shifted in response to COVID-19.

Health on the way

Summary

Subways can be the focus of diseases such as SARS-Covid19. Our concept uses a sensor that, with just one finger, collects health data (O2 saturation, temperature and heart rate) from the user and crosses with international databases to generate epidemiological profiles for the health system. All of this, installed with an access ratchet. The project can be applied anywhere in the world, as long as it has a wifi connection.

How We Addressed This Challenge

The forms of movement of the communities go through public transport; during the social isolation caused by SARS-Covid19 public transport became a means of spreading the disease. Our project is applicable not only at the time of the pandemic, but as long-term population monitoring in public transport. "Light the Path" is about creating security mechanisms for the population during and after the pandemic.

How We Developed This Project

We developed the project because the use of public transport is a reality common to all of us. We carry out research on scientific articles, we use technical knowledge and we count on the help of professional friends of the team. NASA's environmental data helps a lot, as the air quality of the environment directly influences the health of the population. For use in hardware development, an Esp32 was chosen, due to its performance and versatility. (Sqlite3 Arduino library for ESP32). The biggest difficulty was the research and development of the hardware.
