Light the Path

The COVID-19 pandemic initiated changes in human population movements and activities around the world. Your challenge is to use Earth observations to explore how human activity and regional land-based human movement patterns may have shifted in response to COVID-19.

Summary

Several projects are being created all over the world, by isolated groups or big institutions, they all have the same objective: decrease the impacts caused by COVID-19. However, we still find people unaware of how to positively contribute to this situation. Our online platform has the objective of inspiring people, groups, and organizations by creating a sharing ideas platform. That way, we are not creating only one solution, but a network full of people that are willing to change the world.

How We Addressed This Challenge

The project fits within the challenge because this developed platform uses the data provided by NASA to identify patterns like migration, socioeconomics, and environmental to store applied solutions and suggest them to be applied at other similar areas that will benefit from it. Furthermore, the platform is also used to inform the users about real information in your localization.

How We Developed This Project

After brainstorming for a central problem, we created a poll which had more than 200 responses about people’s opinion about the current Covid-19 scenario and we discovered that they’d like to know more about solutions rather than data. After that, a prototype was developed, it showed a solution that was already implemented, and solutions that could be used in certain areas. A feedback on the online website usability was made with a SUS test (System Usability Scale) with an average score of 91,25 points and the recommended is above 70 points.
