The project addresses the challenge by analysing atmospheric data provided by satellites to evaluate how COVID-19 had a negative and a positive effect on the industry and on the environment respectively. The solution also uses a compilation of these pieces of information to raise the population's awareness about ecology.
The opportunity to use satellite's data to observe human patterns, its effects on the economy and, ultimately, on the environment was what brought the team to choose the Light the Path challenge. The project was partially developed with an informative approach in mind, though focusing on the economy. We've used data from space agencies to validate our problem and to fulfill the informative roll of the solution. The tools used by the group were the Porkbun platform, as well as its web builder program, and the worldview by NASA. The two major problems the team has encountered along the way were the platform development and accessing the data. Developing the platform was especially challenging due to the lack of a colab system within the platform, which is aggravated by the lack of resources. Accessing the information provided by satellites was difficult due to the lack of technical expertise of the members, mostly high school students. On the other hand, the knowledge we've acquired and the feeling of accomplishment were invaluable.
