The distribution of Covid 19 virus can be seen from night light imagery. Night light imagery shows the central of developed area as a bright light that being the center of activity in a country but Covid 19 pandemic makes people tend to move to less populated areas such as residents who move to their hometown from the city where they live and work because most of the offices do work from home. This causes Covid 19 virus to spread to every regions of a country that not apply lockdown. This project is expected to be used as a way to know the distribution of the Covid 19 virus.
We chose this challenge because light night imagery is rarely used in research so we tried to create new ideas to solve every problems on earth, especially in case of the Covid 19 pandemic in an area by using the night light imagery data that provided by NASA or NASA partners in this Space Apps Challenge like ESA, JAXA, CSA, and CNES.
To developed the project that we created, we used the spectral value approach from the light night imagery data and correlated with the population density data in the study area to get the relation between the spectral values with the population density so that the spreading of Covid 19 virus can be known. it is assumed if population density gets higher then the level of spread of the virus will be higher.
We made this project using primary data of night light imagery and also using secondary data population density data of the study area. Software used in this project is Arcgis and a number processing software to determine the correlation between two data that used in this project.
its in progress
The data used in this project is light night imagery provided by NASA. There are two data with different temporal resolutions before and after the Covid 19 pandemic spreading in study area.
