Purify the Air Supply

Has your time spent indoors increased during the COVID-19 pandemic as a result of stay-at-home and shelter-in-place policies worldwide? Your challenge is to use the International Space Station (ISS) as inspiration and develop a system to monitor and/or purify indoor air. It is entirely up to you whether the system you design is able to be used on Earth (for example in homes, businesses, transportation, etc.) and/or in space.

To.air

Summary

The To.Air consist in a indoor air quality alarm, helping the population to prevent and avoid places where the air conditions are prone to contamination by virus and bacteria.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Our project measure the indoor air quality and gives feedback about how to proceed.

How We Developed This Project

We chose the challenge of purify the air because we want to help the world in the fight against the COVID-19 and to improve the human quality of life.

We developed our solution using different and adapted project methodologies like PDCA cycle and agile. Also, we used some online tools to identify the problem and solution (and help our collaboration / brainstorming). Plus, we searched in the NASA's database and in external resources.

To develop our project we used MIRO, Discord, flaticon.com, ptc CREO, Google Docs, Google Slides, Toonz, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere.

About the experience, we had some difficulties in the beginning mostly because we did not have the experience in Hackathons and the dynamic in this event. But then, with the collaboration of NASA Space Apps Brazil, webinar e and tools to plan the development, we achieved our goal.

Data & Resources

We searched in the NASA's database but also in external resources. Most of the links of NASA's database was used as inspiration to our idea and to clear doubts that we had in our project.
