Purify the Air Supply

Has your time spent indoors increased during the COVID-19 pandemic as a result of stay-at-home and shelter-in-place policies worldwide? Your challenge is to use the International Space Station (ISS) as inspiration and develop a system to monitor and/or purify indoor air. It is entirely up to you whether the system you design is able to be used on Earth (for example in homes, businesses, transportation, etc.) and/or in space.

Gaia Cloud P1 Purify

Summary

The prototype only needs a movement or timing sensor to trigger the emission, a simple Arduino board and a luminous emitter of ultraviolet rays in the Far-UVC range, completely viable in a technological sense, and based on the scientific aspect, since the emission Far-UVC is proven to be effective in fighting 99% of viruses and is not harmful to humans.

How We Addressed This Challenge

We believe that there is no project that makes better use of science than ours! We will put the accessibility of an Arduino and the emission of UV, we are using nature against nature itself, preventing the virus from proliferating in urban environments in a natural way, using only light! Without fancy chemicals or vaccines with side effects.

How We Developed This Project

Get data on covid numbers from the beginning by matching data from Earth satellite images that capture an exclusively human signal - artificial lighting. (S 7) With another match in carbon monoxide emission data (5P) in these regions to check a heat map of the regions to point out the best places to apply the device
