Ventilation helps to purify the air supply.
One of the members is having the project to make it visible that the place is working on the Corona Virus protection or not by measuring the concentration of CO2 as his job. We can use them at local places such as restaurants, offices, and schools.
If we set the CO2 sensor to the place we want, because it is an IoT, it can warn us if the concentration is over the threshold. Not only that! We can save the data and also we can show the data to everyone.
The sensor which is used for this is really cheap (about two thousand yen). So, we need to calibrate which work is not so difficult to do. The only thing we need to do is to expose the sensor to the place in which the concentration of CO2 is 400ppm for 20 minutes by setting the calibration mode.
However, it is hard for us to make a place that is filled with 400ppm concentration of CO2 like a laboratory. Also, it costs too much if we order the calibration specialists to calibrate that sensor. Even if the sensor is cheap, we can't have the sensor go around if the calibration costs too much.
How can we easily get the air which has a 400ppm concentration of CO2? By thinking of it, we bumped into the data which shows us that the GOSAT and GOSAT-2 can measure the concentration of CO2 of the places all over the world with the accuracy 1ppm on the online seminar we had for this NASA Space Apps Challenge.
By using the observing data of GOSAT, we thought that we can make the map which shows us which place has 400ppm concentration of CO2 which means that place suit to do the calibration work.
Still, we are wondering about some parts like the accuracy of the CO2 sensor and appropriate on the scientific point. Though, we thought this concept that “Calibrating the cheap sensor spread to the world by using the Earth Observation Satellite” sounds a dreamy challenge. And also we thought this challenge fits this Hackathon to make it in a shape in 2 days. For these reasons, we chose this idea.
