Purify the Air Supply

Has your time spent indoors increased during the COVID-19 pandemic as a result of stay-at-home and shelter-in-place policies worldwide? Your challenge is to use the International Space Station (ISS) as inspiration and develop a system to monitor and/or purify indoor air. It is entirely up to you whether the system you design is able to be used on Earth (for example in homes, businesses, transportation, etc.) and/or in space.

Taking Control

Summary

Based on the theme "Purification and air supply", the team's goal, Taking Control, is to create a filtering mechanism, using positive and negative magnetic poles. This mechanism will be responsible for the retention and/or separation of particles of impurities, with emphasis on lunar dust, which can be installed in the air in which we breathe. Within this mechanism, we will implement a magnetic layer (screen). Due to the magnetism generated, as soon as these particles come into contact with the filter, they will be attracted to the layer (screen), as if it were a kind of magnet and separated from O2 (oxygen).

How We Addressed This Challenge
How We Developed This Project

Searching nasa archives we found that iss have a big problem: Lunar Dust. Lunar Dust can decrease the astronauts life support quality.
