Our challenge is Quiet Planet and our project fits this proposal because we present the solution to reduce the environmental impacts caused by garbage that is incorrectly disposed of. We created an application that connects the cooperatives for the collection of recycled garbage. With Covid-19 the collection of recyclable waste such as plastic, paper and aluminum was suspended in some places like Brazil. As a result, recycled waste was mixed with ordinary waste, contributing to the increase in the emission of polluting gases into the atmosphere, directly influencing the greenhouse effect. Our app connects people to recycling cooperatives that collect this waste, avoiding disposal in ordinary garbage and consequently reducing greenhouse gases.
Through NASA data, we have identified an increase in the emission of gases like methane, carbon dioxide. They have a negative influence on the greenhouse effect. Moreover, we have used data from the UN that shows an increase in the production of waste and also from Brazilian agencies which also indicates this growth. Failure to properly dispose of garbage can influence air pollution, causing problems not only to the environment, but also to people and animals. Therefore, our inspiration is to find a way to encourage actions of separation and selective collection, as well as promoting income generation for families.
