BACKGROUND
The main motive of this project was to make people more conscientious by providing space-based data about the global impacts of the pandemic make them aware about the preventive measures to be followed strictly in order to minimize its escalation. This project aims to enable its user to make a comparative and detailed study of the environmental phenomena such as NO2, CO2, CO emissions, human behaviors and economical consequences before and after the pandemic which helps the user to keep track of the pandemic consequences in the environment and act accordingly. On the other hand, it aims to provide real-time data regarding the COVID-19 cases near the user and alerts the user for social-distancing. Not only this, it also provides information about covid-19 cases around the globe and the user can get access to these data from any part of the world. Moreover, it also provides additional information like the guidelines for self-isolation and personal hygiene for user’s well-being.
MOTIVATION
The outbreak of this new strain of corona virus COVID-19 has declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). Every activity have been halted and people are bound to stay at homes as countries have issued lockdowns which have led to numerous short-term changes in all commercial and non-commercial activities and environmental phenomena. Our home planet is going through this very critical time. As self-isolation and personal hygiene have become mandatory, the consequences of sudden halt can be seen distinctly in the nature. The decline in the demand of energy resources and reduction in commercial and non-commercial activities have led to numerous short-term changes in every aspects from local to global level. NO2, CO2, SO2, CO and many other green house gases emissions have drastically reduced. Many cities which used to be covered with dust, dirt and smog were reported to be showing positive changes in terms of their air quality. Lots of news about positive changes in nature due to the lockdowns can be heard. As a result this challenge particularly attracted us due to its intriguing literal meaning itself.
OVERVIEW OF OUR BUILD
We used space-based data from different resources of NASA, JAXA, ESA, CSA, CNES and from the Google. We utilized the data in both imagery as well as numeric forms. We took most of the data from the NASA’s open data source. We combined the datasets in our app through
