Quiet Planet

The COVID-19 outbreak and the resulting social distancing recommendations and related restrictions have led to numerous short-term changes in economic and social activity around the world, all of which may have impacts on our environment. Your challenge is to use space-based data to document the local to global environmental changes caused by COVID-19 and the associated societal responses.

CIEP(Covid-19 impacts on the environmental phenomena)

Summary

Covid-19 has impacts on our daily activities because of the quarantines and shutdowns that were put to stop this pandemic. Thus, travels including flying, traffic, and cruises has dropped and factories has closed. This project will simply analyze environmental changes produced from these in a form of website. It'll revolve on how covid-19 existence affected many environmental phenomena, such as mainly greenhouses emissions as well as the result of this on pollution, disasters, Ozone layer, etc.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Our project presents the effects of covid-19 on the traffic, atmosphere, global warming, ozone hole, presence of NO2, presence of CO2 , energy resources, air pollution, deforestation, see water and fresh Water.

We offer it in simple way and provide our website with maps which present all of these things before and after covid-19 ( as it will be photo with streak as we move the streak to the right the map will be after covid-19 and as we move the streak to the left it will be before covid-19)  to be easy for people to understand how the covid-19 affect our environment.

How We Developed This Project

Our team chose this challenge as we all found that when humans are in quarantines, many environmental impacts happened and we aslo noticed the multiple changes in many of life forms around us in the nature that need to be analysed and showed to people as some people still have no idea about these changes. This will have a big role to make humans save the earth after the pandemic ends.  As many resources were allowed from space agency for us to get data base of our challenge, we made something like a filtration as we opened all  resources and saved which are related to our challenge topic. We knew the global changes on (transportation, greenhouses emissions  atmosphere, fules, energy sources, air, water, etc.) during the pandemic. Also, we benefited from NASA observations systems and graphs to know the  changes happened in many environmental phenomena in 2020 and comparing them with the other years. We analyzed the information we got and the observations' maps and graphs and deduced the many effects  fluctuating between positivity and negativity.

Our approach is using programming language(CSS,HTML,javascript) to design a website which provides a lot of information related to the global natural changes after COVID-19  and insert many maps which allow a comparison between before and after covid-19 pandemic in embedding systems by scrolling a hand right and left. First, we got a problem of how to benefit people by this information to realise the changes amidst the big problem faced us, as our choice must be creative and deliver the information in clear and simple way. We passed it by thinking of designing a website with the characteristics we mentioned before.
