SDGs and COVID-19

This challenge invites you to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by looking at the current and ongoing change in the monitoring indicators of the UN SDGs using Earth observation/remote sensing and global Earth system model-derived analysis products.

ADVS MASSIVE PLANT

Summary

This project is about creating a water filtration plant using the “AGDVS” system, which is a hybrid style plant that makes possible to clean diverse types of polluted water with a great variety of contaminants. The system cleans water with different stations of filtration, and an advantage of the system is that it is 100% adaptable to the situation of the community and the problems they have.It also is a multi purpose system because it can be implanted for the solution of different problems like water pollution and the lack of water, because a big cuanty of water can be recycled and used for household duty or grow foods.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Our project brings a solution to 8 of the SDGs which are:

3. Good health and well-being, 4. Quality education, 6. Clean water and sanitation, 9. Industry, innovation and infrastructure, 11. Sustainable cities and communities, 14. Life under water, 15. Life on land, 17. Alliances for the objectives.

All these SDGs are derived from the project, and allow to start generating alliances with different government agencies and associations to be able to carry out this project, in which impulses the care of programmes such as “Life under water” and “Life on earth”  since having contaminated water damages the aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. The main goal of this project is to be able to give clean water to the communities as well as avoid the dangers that exist when living with or using contaminated water. Here is when the SDG number 3 applies to our project because it is about having a healthy lifestyle. A water purifing  plant lowers the risks of contracting a disease or risking your life by having to go to look out for water. SDG number 6 is the one that inspired all of this.  When installing a “AGDVS” water purifing plant, a platform can be created educate the people in that community about the conservation and preservation of water resources and other ecological topics, which applies to SDG 11 that is about sustainable cities and communities.

How We Developed This Project

Through trial and error. When building the ADVS system to be implemented in a comunity, we found  different methods that allowed us to obtain better results as well as new information to extend our research and the development of new materials and designs to improve the project in all areas. We also relied on the computer analysis of the structure in hand with the creation of various prototypes to make water more accessible and help communities as soon as possible.
