The aim of the project is to study and analyze the behavior of coronavirus in air pollution particles, which is related to SDG number 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), target 11.6 (reduce the adverse environmental impact of cities, paying special attention to air quality). Our project will assist in encouraging the achievement of the chosen goal in view of the change in gas emissions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
In the breadth of the problems that the world has been facing, we have started to reflect more on the quality of life of the world population. This made our group interested in working on innovations that could collaborate to reduce the impacts on the environment, in order to preserve what brought us alive until now. Therefore, the challenge "SDGs and COVID-19" was chosen.
This project was approached highlighting the harmful effects of air pollution on human health, with the aim of encouraging industries and government officials to invest in reducing the emission of pollutants, in view of the relationship between the increased incidence of coronavirus and poor air quality.
We accessed the space agency's databases to check what content is available, and then decide the next steps. That done, we developed an intervention proposal and the data will be used later, when the final product is in development.
During the development of the project we used several tools, being them public information, including NASA's open databases; the image editors Canva and Adobe Photoshop; the YouTube video platform; the Movie Studio video editor.
Our team went through several problems. The initial team consisted of 6 members, however, some gave up and, for a moment, it destabilized us. We took time to breathe and stood up, doing our best under the conditions and the short time that was left. We had problems with the internet and the Discord system, but we tried to help each other, applying the concept of teamwork. We had some difficulty in dealing with technologies, especially databases, and yet we got around the situation. The fact that we are able to deliver a proposal is certainly our greatest achievement.
