SDGs and COVID-19

This challenge invites you to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by looking at the current and ongoing change in the monitoring indicators of the UN SDGs using Earth observation/remote sensing and global Earth system model-derived analysis products.

Relation between the social distancing and emission of greenhouse gases

Summary

On 11/03/2020, our highschool suspended its classroom activities due to the pandemy declaration by our state. When we received the invitation to Space Apps Challenge, immediately we formed our group. On 30/05/2020, we got together in a videoconference and we started to discuss what we stopped doing since the suspension of the classroom activities. We all agreed that we stopped going outside home and, during that discussion we formulated the following question “What are the effects caused by the social distancing in the emission of greenhouse gases?”Unfortunately, we couldn't start putting all together and make a relatory or a site that show this relation in a visual way

How We Addressed This Challenge

Our project addresses this challenge by analizing the greenhouse gases emissions via data from satellites that monitore the color of the earth surface and satellites that monitore the atmosphere levels of greenhouse gases

How We Developed This Project

We've choosen this challenge because one of the things that worries us the most is the emission of greenhouse gases. We developed this idea via videoconferences. The biggest problem we had was the time question. We couldn't manage our time very well and this didn't let us with enough time to "put our ideia out of the paper".

Data & Resources

We planned to use data from the IASA, Aura, ATom and GEDI
