SDGs and COVID-19

This challenge invites you to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by looking at the current and ongoing change in the monitoring indicators of the UN SDGs using Earth observation/remote sensing and global Earth system model-derived analysis products.

Humanity against covid-19

Summary

Hi! we are undergraduate students, concerned with the future of the planet. Our problem is the impact of COVID-19 on people in need. In a study made by the Ministry of Health, you can see that more than 70 Brazilian cities have more than 30 thousand adults who live on the street. We want to encourage donations during the pandemic without increase the spread by organizing them on a website. In the future, the platform will serve as social support. Did you know that you can help others and protect yourself at the same time?

How We Addressed This Challenge

Hunger and poverty are one of the most serious problems we have in the world and this is something that the UN program aims to eradicate, on our website we want to help people from all over the world who live in extreme poverty, such as those living in the interiors of the Brazilian Northeast. Starting with workers who often do not have a permanent job, but this year because of COVID 19 their situation worsens, and this is where we started with our product to support these people.

How We Developed This Project

Our main inspiration for developing the project was the fact that we felt obliged to help those who need it most in the current situation, without being able to work on behalf of COVID-19, so we thought about joining society even though it was separated, uniting it with a social project so that food, clothing and personal hygiene materials could reach the neediest.

We use data from Google, NASA and the Brazilian Ministry of Health to obtain official information and from reliable sources.
