SDGs and COVID-19

This challenge invites you to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by looking at the current and ongoing change in the monitoring indicators of the UN SDGs using Earth observation/remote sensing and global Earth system model-derived analysis products.

Green Intergalactic Adventure

Summary

In the pandemic scenario, challenge 6 – ODS and COVID-19, SDG's development goal, leads us to search for a sustainable, accessible and practical idea, in order to help fight the virus through the hygiene resulting from the production of soap by waste means taught in the platform, where production is by this waste. Through these resources, individuals will prevent and contribute to the reduction of waste. The platform will feature a connection resource between donors and recipients of waste.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Today, due to the Covid-19 pandemic crisis scenario, many things in the world had to be postponed or suspended. But how is it possible to suspend what is essential? The 17 SDG development goals cannot wait, so we decided to challenge ourselves in the search for a sustainable system that is necessary in times of a pandemic. We realized that personal hygiene is extremely important today, and the creation of a natural and sustainable product would be incredible. From residual compounds it is possible to produce soap: the main ally in the fight against the virus. This is because, the soap has amphiphilic properties, which will degenerate the lipoprotein membrane of this virus, thus releasing its content. In addition, the project proposed the creation of a connection between waste donors and recipients who produced their soap.

How We Developed This Project

It is a sustainable, accessible and practical idea. Its purpose is to help combat COVID-19 and also reduce the amount of waste discarded in nature. Through the development of a digital platform, which aims to integrate homemade soap recipes in one place

produced from sustainable organic waste, where the recipients that will produce the soap and the donors of the raw material can maintain contact. And together in a simple way to contribute to a greener world.
