SDGs and COVID-19

This challenge invites you to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by looking at the current and ongoing change in the monitoring indicators of the UN SDGs using Earth observation/remote sensing and global Earth system model-derived analysis products.

SIW - Improve the World with your Strengths

Summary

SIW, acts at a key point in the fight against COVID-19, the info. The impact of ignorance about possible areas of contamination in the air, water or soil can compromise the efforts made by the whole society. Therefore, the alternative raised by the team becomes extremely relevant, through open data such as NASA, generating safe routes and in our APP the user will also have a game where they’ll receive challenges that will grow their immunity, contribute to sustainable habits and also help to achieve the ODS In the future, SIW will have inclusive tools, democratizing the tool. We also envision partnerships with private companies to offer awards to users who contribute most to sustainability.

How We Addressed This Challenge

The project is viable and relevant in terms of its proposed action regarding the proposed challenge: "How to inform about possible contamination in the air, water or soil?". The construction of the ideation initially proposed, generated in this period of development, changes that added value to the proposal.

A fundamental aspect includes consulting the data sources provided by NASA and regional public bodies, however, to establish some indicators, it will be necessary to access the database of companies and private institutions, in the expansion of the resources offered on the platform.

According to the Glenn Research Center with NASA supervision: navigation technologies consist mainly of robust, reliable and computationally efficient mathematical algorithms (and their associated software implementation) for path estimation functions such as: RPO - Project Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO) trajectory and orbit determination; Lagrange Point Sol-Terra trajectory design and orbit determination.

In addition to showing the risk of contamination in the research region, it will be possible to obtain more information about that area, and trace a route from it, to another region, bypassing the contagion peaks, by clicking on the “safe route” option. The functionalities involve the I / O system (input and output), which receive guidance on origin and destination, as soon as they are informed, they are linked through a learning machine, which acts as a cookie, saving I / O information, thus showing the safest route on the display, being this route provided with tools that demonstrate in real time, through scales the risks of contamination in the areas close to the chosen route, and determining the ideal route.

The gamification structure brings the player's objective to make challenges in order to help his country achieve the UN objectives, thus doing his part to improve the world in which we live, in addition to providing physical, emotional and even economic assistance.

Through the programming logic structured in the accumulation of points for the user who acquired experience both with his character and in his personal life. As an attractive differential after the accumulation of experience, an exchange currency is generated that can be exchanged for discounts at companies / stores that are partners of the game as a reward for fulfilling several challenges. For minors, the experience in question is restricted to buying clothes for your character.

According many challenges the player is doing, the more experience he gains, with that he goes up in the game, unlocking trophies, which would be the discounts offered by the partner companies, receives achievements for the good engagement in the game and can visualize his state, national and world in relation to the objectives of the UN.

Thus learning what the UN's objectives are, helping the world in which it lives and improving its mental and physical health in the midst of the pandemic.

In this way, we will offer a platform that can inform the population, indicate safer routes for commuting and encourage habits that increase immunity and encourage good practices. With the potential to impact the entire country, in a first scenario. However, applicable to all those contemplated by the technologies mentioned.
