SDGs and COVID-19

This challenge invites you to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by looking at the current and ongoing change in the monitoring indicators of the UN SDGs using Earth observation/remote sensing and global Earth system model-derived analysis products.

SDGs against Covid_19

Summary

The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) of 2015 are a set of 17 consolidated targets that form a comprehensive framework for holistic global development. It brings together the five pillars: people , planet , prosperity , peace and partnerships.Although these goals initially had a deadline of 2030, there is no doubt that the Covid-19 pandemic will upend not only that timeline but also the processes involved in reaching these targets.

How We Addressed This Challenge

we summarized the impact of Covid 19 on some of the SDGs through the use of some sources.

In order to be aware of the impact of covid 19, which has a major impact on the goals of sustainable development and because the goals of sustainable development constitute our future life and have a great importance in that.

How We Developed This Project
  1. We chose this project because we fully understood the importance of sustainable development goals, the seriousness of covid19, and its impact on the sustainable development goals.
  2. We can develop the project by relying on the latest developments and information that we find on the relevant sites and also by relying on recent data and how the virus affects the goals of sustainable development every short period ، We also want to develop the project by doing something that solves the problem and helps reduce the damage by relying on this data and information Like an app or website .Among our future plans, we want to make an application that helps reduce people's going to streets because it is the first cause of the spread of the virus, and we also planned that the application include a focus on the first, second and third Goals.
  3. The UN Sustainable Development Goals Knowledge Platform, The SDG Indicators Metadata Repository — The latest reference metadata information provided by the UN System and other international organizations on data and statistics for indicators in the Global Indicator Framework , GEO: Earth Observations in support of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development , Study on changes due to Covid-19 crisis from IASI data , JAXA and NASA world view. We didn't use all data from Nasa, but we will use it in our plans to develop our project
  4. The project depends entirely on research and data collection, so we used the research tools.
  5. We were able to collect and write a good amount of information about the impact of the virus on the goals of sustainable development, and we will update this periodically, As for the problems, we are represented in the abundance of information sources and our desire to collect the largest amount, but we were not able to do so because we want to summarize and also because of our sense of time constraints.
