Where There’s a Link, There’s a Way

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, there has been a proliferation of websites and portals developed to share resources about the topic. Your challenge is to find innovative ways to present and analyze integrated, real-time information about the environmental factors affecting the spread of COVID-19.

Information for Life - Virtual Assistant Telegram

Summary

Sending the geolocation or the name of a specific location by the user on Telegram, it’s possible to receive updated information about COVID-19 commented on Twitter as well as the numbers of people infected, recovered and deceased in more than 190 countries around the world. All this is possible with the Capinauta chatbot, it has flow of information linked to Watson, makes it’s possible to inform, help people and better understand how to prevent it and how the environmental and cultural factors

How We Addressed This Challenge

At the end of the year, the world followed the first cases of COVID-19, the DAN’s sequencing and the sharing of its information by different countries. In addition to, the world is witnessing the spread of the virus, it infects millions of people, with more than 350,000 lives were lost around the world until now.

Even with the information made available by different countries, the environmental and cultural factors of each one were crucial for their political leaders act in order to contain their progress, a fact that caused drastic changes in people's routine.

Witch their routines changed daily, people seek information related about COVID-19's contagion in their city, in their country and even in other places around the world. For this reason Capinauta was developed. From a chatbot integrated to the Telegram social network, the user can send his or her other location, by geolocation or by text, and can receive the subjects that are being discussed on the COVID-19 on Twitter this today. In this sense, Capinauta receives the location informed by the user and displays the newest COVID-19’s datas according by region, in addition to the number of infected (confirmed) people, recovered people and fatal victims.

To deal with this challenge of keeping people informed, initially, the different sites and applications were been  analyzed. Then, the Node-RED tool was used, which enabled the integration between Telegram, Twitter and others with Watson, so that the chatbot had a more human caracterists in its interactions with the user.

This interaction allows the integration of the workflow between the tools, so that the available data and the connection are used in favor of the prevention and information of its users so that they remain healthy and informed wherever they are, taking themselves taking into account the environmental aspects of each country.

Preliminary tests pointed to effectiveness and compliance in sending information regarding COVID-19's cases numbers in compliance with World Health Organization standards and in line with the environmental and cultural factors of each country.

How We Developed This Project

The Project was developed from an open platform Node-Red, which creates a role as an orchestrator of functions and calls, a language created by Javascript, but much of the development is low code.

They integrate several APIs, our main difficulty was the use of APIs from space agencies, of high complexity and not very intuitive to be used.

We use watson with artificial intelligence for a chatbot that uses the telegram interface, and returns relevant information relevant to the user.
