Where There’s a Link, There’s a Way

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, there has been a proliferation of websites and portals developed to share resources about the topic. Your challenge is to find innovative ways to present and analyze integrated, real-time information about the environmental factors affecting the spread of COVID-19.

Fake Seekers

Summary

Fake Seekers is an application made to fight fake news, explaining why they are fake through games. As the person accumulates points in the quizzes, they can be converted into discounts in partner establishments. This way, we can inform people while they have fun, reducing the spread of both false news and COVID-19.

How We Addressed This Challenge

The Fake Seekers app integrates informations about COVID-19 in a creative way - with minigames showing informations.

How We Developed This Project

The idea was, at first, to develop an application that would show the cases of COVID-19 that were near the users, and showed an explanation of why some news are fake. However, while we were discussing the idea, the “fake news” occured to be a problem bigger than not knowing where there are infected people. So, the idea of disapproving fake news became the main point of the project, with the minigames that show the people if they are learning or not, and the bases of the arguments that we are going to show to the users are NASA’s data. We used Powerpoint, Paint, Excel, Photofiltre?, Google Docs, Google Forms, Google Meet, Discord, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Moqus to achieve what we have done. For us, the biggest problem was to collect all of the data we had, and we learned how to deal with pressure, work shortly, how to be objective.
