Where There’s a Link, There’s a Way

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, there has been a proliferation of websites and portals developed to share resources about the topic. Your challenge is to find innovative ways to present and analyze integrated, real-time information about the environmental factors affecting the spread of COVID-19.

SarsCovApp

Summary

1.-Detection: Our application allows COVID patients to enter anonymous location, so we will have real-time information, grouping confirmed and suspected cases, which gives us an advantage of at least 3 days (versus waiting for a PCR test)2.-Analysis: we provide the user with information about their environment, case notification and self-examination.3.-Prediction: there is a study that indicates that 90% of cases occur between 3°C and 26°C of Temperature. Using NASA climate information, we will cross climate information (temperature, humidity and rain) that generate favorable conditions for the spread of the Virus.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Our project addresses the problem by putting information in the hands of people that allows them to change their behavior, always with the goal of reducing the number of people infected.
The idea is to take the data from NASA, in relation to the climate and using research done to date to create information that allows people to take care of themselves.
On the other hand, people are also considered, who anonymously report that they are infected, to create an internal database that allows other people to be informed that the risk is greater or less.

How We Developed This Project

Our skills are backend and mobile.

We liked this topic because we found it very interesting to open a new flow of information between infected and healthy people. On the other hand, it is a great challenge to use the information available from NASA, extract data and predict favorable or adverse conditions for the spread of the virus.

We use data from the NASA ESMO website, we have extracted data with climatic information, to make predictions, of favorable conditions for the spread of the virus and social behavior.

For the solution we use the Python / php (backend) and database programming languages: MySQL and kotlin/Java for the development of the Android mobile application

The main problems that were presented to us was the short time to extract the information we need from the images provided by NASA.
