The Art of It All

What have you learned about yourself or the world as a result of living through the COVID-19 pandemic? Your challenge is to express your experience of living through this historic time through a work of art.

The Life I Had

Summary

In our project, we layered multiple representations of our experience and the impact of the coronavirus. In the first layer, a map of the pollution in the northeastern U.S. during the month of March is shown. It is significant because the levels of pollution dramatically decreased, as a result of the effects of the coronavirus. The next layer in our work of art is a drawing of a girl with a mask and pictures filling her hair. The pictures exhibit the prominent moments that are remembered of the coronavirus. The last layer is filled with text that includes words of encouragement during these unprecedented times. All three layers put together depict our experience of the coronavirus.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Our project addresses the challenge by showing that we have learned that we need each other to lean on and that though there are many tragic effects of the coronavirus, the decreased pollution in the world has brought a silver lining to the situation. We expressed our experience of living through these times by showing the daily precaution we had to take, the working heroes, and the way we have spent our time with the support of family and friends.

How We Developed This Project

We were inspired to choose this challenge because we feel that the best way to express ourselves is through art and it is what we do best. If this art could help other people, then we are determined to make a masterpiece. To develop this project, we looked back at the past month and thought about how it has changed our lives. We used space agency data in our project by layering a picture of the pollution levels in the northeatsern U.S. during the month of March. To develop our project, we used Paint 3D and Google Drawings. Some problems we had were figuering out how to incorporate our ideas into our art and how to use the software to bring our ideas to life. An achievement we had were combining our ideas by creating layers to show the different aspects of the art that we all wanted to see.
