Global Pandemic COVID 19 is a huge challenge for the most social animals on earth-- humankind. Lockdowns have pushed us to the brink of mental breakdown and emotional distress as we grapple with social detachment and isolation. The goal of our project is to help bridge the sociological divide by creating an app that will bring people together with enhanced, augmented experiences and better electronic communication. Thus, improving social interactions and interpersonal connection among its users.
As we all know, social media platforms have changed our way of life and the way we communicate. This led us to choose this challenge because we saw how important it is to bring people together, especially in the face of isolation. By enhancing our virtual presence with augmented reality, we believe that an app like iSo-you can help address the social detachment brought about by the pandemic lockdowns. We based the main components of our app using data extracted from sociological research on astronauts' coping mechanisms during periods of isolation in confined spaces as we are now during the global lockdown. Thereby as these components have been proven effective, we hope that our app design will have the same effect among its users. As this is just a concept for now, we were not able to build this app as it should. However, if we are to build it we would definitely be using holographic technology and augmented reality.
